The grand conclusion of ‘Coal India Ranchi Marathon 2025,’ organized by Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) under the aegis of Coal India Limited, took place at Birsa Munda Stadium, Morabadi, Ranchi. This prestigious marathon witnessed the participation of over 10,000 runners . The event was certified by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

To encourage the participants, several distinguished guests graced the occasion, including Hon’ble Former Judge of the Jharkhand High Court, Shri S.N. Pathak; Chairman, Coal India Limited (CIL), Shri P.M. Prasad; Former Chairman, CIL, Shri Pramod Agrawal; Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD), CCL, Shri Nilendu Kumar Singh; CMD, Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), Shri Satish Jha; Former CMD, CCL / Director (Technical - Operations), CIL, Shri B. Veera Reddy; Secretary (Sports, Arts & Culture), Government of Jharkhand, Shri Manoj Kumar; Director (Personnel), CIL, Shri Vinay Ranjan; Director (Business Development), CIL, Shri Shri Debasish Nanda; Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), CIL, Shri Brajesh Kumar Tripathy; Director (Technical/Operations), CCL, Shri Harish Duhan; Director (Personnel), CCL, Shri Harsh Nath Mishra; Director (Finance), CCL, Shri Pawan Kumar Mishra; CVO, CCL, Shri Pankaj Kumar; Director (Personnel), ECL, Shri Gunjan Kumar Sinha; Senior Security Advisor, CIL, Shri Alok Kumar Pataria, along with senior state government officials, CCL employees, stakeholders, and many eminent personalities.

The marathon was flagged off by the dignitaries and commenced at 5:00 AM from Birsa Munda Stadium, Morabadi, covering Kanke Road before concluding back at Morabadi. Coal India awarded prize money of over ₹35.1 lakh to the winners. The marathon featured competitions across four categories for both men and women.

Full Marathon (42 km) – Men’s Category:

1st Place: Gyan Babu (2:26:25) – ₹3.3 lakh

2nd Place: Raj Shekhar Pathak (2:31:03) – ₹2 lakh

3rd Place: Deepa Ram (2:34:49) – ₹1.1 lakh


Full Marathon (42 km) – Women’s Category:

1st Place: Reenu (2:53:31) – ₹3.3 lakh

2nd Place: Arpita Saini (3:03:23) – ₹2 lakh

3rd Place: Bharti (3:04:08) – ₹1.1 lakh


Half Marathon (21 km) – Men’s Category:

1st Place: Harmanjot Singh (1:05:14) – ₹2.2 lakh

2nd Place: Lokesh Chaudhary (1:05:57) – ₹1.1 lakh

3rd Place: Abhishek (1:06:20) – ₹55,000


Half Marathon (21 km) – Women’s Category:

1st Place: Bharti Nain (1:15:32) – ₹2.2 lakh

2nd Place: Mamta Rajbhar (1:20:45) – ₹1.1 lakh

3rd Place: Dimple Singh (1:21:29) – ₹55,000


10 km Run – Men’s Category:

1st Place: Shubham Sindhu (0:29:31) – ₹1.1 lakh

2nd Place: Anand (0:29:42) – ₹75,000

3rd Place: Ajay Kumar Bind (0:30:01) – ₹55,000


10 km Run – Women’s Category:

1st Place: K.M. Jyoti (0:34:16) – ₹1.1 lakh

2nd Place: Pooja Verma (0:34:27) – ₹75,000

3rd Place: K.M. Sangeeta Pal (0:35:39) – ₹55,000
A total 10 winner were awarded in the each category.

Padma Vibhushan  and legendary Indian boxer Mary Kom, who was the chief attraction of the event, inspired all the runners. She remarked,
"This event has proven that the passion for sports in India is constantly growing. I congratulate CCL for organizing such a grand event and hope it continues to expand in the future." She further emphasized, "Fitness is the key to success."

Chairman, Coal India Limited, Shri P.M. Prasad, extended his congratulations to all participants and stated,
"This marathon aims to raise awareness about physical fitness among the public. It is not just a race but a platform to promote a healthy lifestyle."

CMD, CCL, Shri Nilendu Kumar Singh, thanked all the runners for their participation and said,
"CCL is committed to the holistic development of its stakeholders. In this endeavor, we have organized the Coal India Marathon for the third time. This event not only promotes sportsmanship but also strengthens harmony and unity in society. We are dedicated to hosting such events on a larger scale every year."

Director (Personnel), CIL, Shri Vinay Ranjan, expressed his delight over the successful conclusion of the event and remarked,
"This marathon is not just a platform for sports enthusiasts but also a powerful medium for spreading awareness about health and fitness in society."


To ensure the safety and convenience of participants, energy stations, water supply centers, medical assistance teams, ambulances, and security personnel were deployed along the entire marathon route. The Jharkhand government, local administration, and the Athletics Federation of India extended their full support in providing world-class facilities to all runners.

The ‘3rd Coal India Ranchi Marathon 2025’ has taken another significant step toward establishing Jharkhand as a key hub for national and international runners. This annual event will continue to grow in scale, offering a platform for more athletes to showcase their talent at both national and international levels.

It is noteworthy that under the leadership of CMD, CCL, Shri Nilendu Kumar Singh, CCL is not only ensuring the country's energy security through coal production but is also setting new benchmarks in the fields of art, sports, health, through various social initiatives.
