In yet another recognition to its CSR initiative, Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), Ranchi was conferred with “SCOPE Corporate Excellence Award 2019”, during the SCOPE Corporate Communication Summit 2019 organized on 2nd & 3rdAugust 2019 at SCOPE Convention Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. The award was given to CCL in the category of “Brand Building Through Inclusive Growth Initiative”acknowledging the efforts of the company, under the dynamic leadership of CMD Shri Gopal Singh, for social transformation. The award credits CCL’s significant and exemplary services under its “Kayakalp Schemes” for holistic development and inclusive growth of all its stakeholders and society at large, in last 7 years. Altogether 183 public sector enterprises participated for the coveted award.
CCL has been conferred with “SCOPE Corporate Excellence Award 2019” in appreciation of its significant contribution through its welfare schemes, better known as “Kayakalp Schemes” in the field sports, education, health, skill development, drinking water etc.running across 8 districts of Jharkhand. CCL was selected among more than 150 Public Enterprise who participated in the event.
GM (CSR), CCL Shri A K Singh and others received the award on behalf of CCL from Dr. B P Singh, former Governor, Sikkim and Ex-Home Secretary, GoI. Shri V M Chanela, Director (HR), HAL, Dr. J D Agarwal, Chairman,IIF, Shri PK Sinha, Program Director, SCOPE along with other dignitaries were present to grace the occasion.A detailed presentation highlighting the various initiatives and the transformational change which has seen in the life of thousand of its beneficiaries was given during the summit. The participants not only appreciated the various endeavors of CCL but congratulated the CCL team under Shri Gopal Singh for their dedicated work for the upliftment of society.
CCL as responsible corporate citizen is committed towards the holistic growth of downtrodden, employees and tribal. CCL has taken up severalinitiativesfor young and talented children and youths of Scheduled Tribes in the field of Sports. While Sports Academy has been a flagship scheme, but in addition to it, CCL has identified close to 250 football teams in its command area to promote Sports in the tribal regions of Jharkhand. In Simdega, for the past two years CCL has been organizing Junior boys & girls Hockey tournament in which maximum participation has been from the tribal community. Similarly, CCL has been regularly organizing various tournaments, to promote sports spirit and identify the hidden talent from these tribal regions.
In the education sector, CCL’s flagship schemes like “CCL ke Lal &Laadli” are platforms designed for the development of the children, who mostly come from backward area of Jharkhand so that they can compete with others in various competitive exams across India.“Kayakalp Public School” at Bukru, Ranchi admits only the children of poorest of the poor parents like rag pickers, beggars etc in English medium, free of cost, which is unique in itself.Similarly, technical training (ITI)at BTTI, CETI and MSDC under Skill Development Mission,is equipping the youths with vocational/technical skills, mostly coming from the underprivileged section of the society, in order to empower them. In addition to the above, CCL has been regularly organizing health camps whose beneficiaries count run into lakhs, with most of them coming from far flung area of Jharkhand.
Conceptualized by Hon’ble Minister of Coal and Railways Minister Shri Piyush Goyal and Hon'ble Chief Minister, Jharkhand, Shri Raghubar Das, the academy started in July 2016. Sports Academy has come of age in very short span of time. Majority of its young cadets, who come from remote, backward and disadvantaged part of the state, have added many feathers to the cap of the academy in no time by making into medal tally at various state and national level meets.
The endeavor of Shri Gopal Singh CMD CCL to ensure that these young cadets get best of all worlds, be it training, facilities, infrastructure, diet or the coaches. The academy has become the most sought-after academies of Jharkhand. Last year 1,89,000 applicants went through selection trial organized across 24 districts of Jharkhand and finally 170 studentswere selected after rigorous selection trials, which makes it to ratio of 9:10000 for finally selected cadets and applicants, demonstrating its popularity.
