Courses conducted since inception (1960) to 2013(till date) and Scope of starting Diploma , Mining Sirdar and Surveyor course with focus on Project Affected People (PAP) coming up from early N.C.D.C period i.e. 1960.It is situated at 20 KM west from Ramgarh Cantt and near Bhurkunda project.

The institute has a glorious past of producing eminent Mining Engineers and a large number of technical hands for the industry.

The institute had different names at different periods:-

• 1960-65 ,Mining Training School ,(MTS) ,
• 1965-73 Mining Mechanisation Training Institute ,(MMTI)
• 1973-77 Refresher Training Institute, (R.T.I.)
• From 1977 ,Bhurkunda Technical Training Institute.(BTTI)
