CCL takes over DVC's Bermo MinesMove to boost production and generate employment
Area- Headquarter, Posted on- 13-10-2019
Central Coalfields limited (CCL) took over Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC)'s Bermo Mines situated in Bokaro District of Jharkhand in presence of CMD CCL Shri Gopal Singh and Member Secretary, DVC, Shri P K Mukhopadhyay. This historic event saw light of the day after two years of persistent effort of both CCL and DVC under the guidance of respective ministries. The mine has been defunct since 2017 due to various technical reason and lack of expertise in mining, resources and clearances.
The mine has reserve of around 124 MT of washery grade coal. CCL will also acquire more than 400 acres of land with the mine. The transfer of Bermo mines will boost the coal production and will leverage economies of scale with CCL's mine around the DVC mine. The resumption of production will not only generate employment but will lead the optimum utilization of resources. The mine has achieved maximum coal production of 4 lakh tonne in recent years. CCL has set the production target for the current fiscal year has been kept at 26 lakh tonne i.e. 2.6 MT and will benefit the DVC's employees with CCL's welfare and CSR schemes under "Kayakalp Yojana".
Speaking on the occasion CMD Shri Gopal Singh expressed his gratitude toward the Center, State Government and it's dynamic leadership for making this initiative a reality. He ensured that the social security will be extended to the existing DVC employees and will add to the coal production of Bermo region of Jharkhand. The first right on the fruits of development is of project affected families who provide their land. CCL will ensure that it reaches to their doorstep, he added.
Also present on the occasion of Ex MP (Giridih) Shri Ravinder Pandey, Director (Technical/Operation) Shri V K Srivastava, GM (Operation) Shri R V Singh, GM (B&K) Shri M K Punjabi, GM (Dhori) Shri Prashant Bajpayee, GM (Kahata) Shri P Chanda, Union representative and public representatives.
