A discussion on " Tabacco- A threat to development"  was held at VicharManch, CCL Darbhanga House, Ranchi on Thursday. Sri Gopal Singh, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Central Coalfields Limited, Sri D K Ghosh, Director(Finance), Sri  R S Mahapatro, Director (Pers.,), Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Vice Chairman, Medica Superspecialty Hospital, Ranchi,Dr. Deepak Gupta,  Director, Medica and large number of CCL employees were present during the discussion. The programme was organized by Telegraph in association with other organizations.

Sri Gopal Singh, CMD, CCL in his address said that the prime activity of the company has been social transformation in the society and coal production is one of the activities. He cited that the company has been carrying out many welfare schemes like CCL Ke Lal, CCL Ke Ladli in which students of rural background are selected and admitted in DAV Gandhinagar Hospital and CCL management provides them all basic facilities to crack IIT examinations including lodging and fooding. He further said that each individual has its passion and it is important to focus on it throughout your life.  He further said that we must educate the young children, age group 6-12 years, who begin smoking for fun and later become habitual smokers. He further said that it is important to promote health and publish leaflets with do’s and don’ts regarding tobacco.  CMD CCL directly interacted with students and motivated them to develop their passion. 

Sri D K Ghosh, Director(Finance) too talked about theme of upcoming World No Tobacco Day 2017 to be observed on 31 May, 2017 . Sri R S Mahapatro, Director(Personnel)  said that the smoking tabacco is one type of habits with huge health risk.  He further said that there are lots of reasons why one should not smoke as it badly affects health of an individual.

Two renowned doctors from Medica Superspecialty Hospital, Ranchi- Dr. Deepak Gupta and Dr. Sanjay Kumar- talked about various aspects of smokingtabacco and its affects on health of individual. They also said that tobacco in cigarettes contains thousands of chemicals, which damages various organs of the body.  Dr. Sanjay Kumar gave message "No to Tabacoo, Yes to Life."  Dr. Deepak  Gupta in his address said that each cigarette cuts on average 11 minutes off the life of a smoker.  Sri Manoj Upadhayay, teacher, Edutech said it is important to inculcate “moral values among children” and developing healthy relationship between parents and children.

Large number of CCL employees from headquarters were present during discussion on theme "Tobacco-  a threat to development.  Sri Sailesh Sahai of Telegraph felicitated the dignitaries, while Sri Ranjan proposed vote of thanks.
